01 Telecom Ltd was incorporated on the 28th March 2009. However, the driving force and managing director of the company, Mark Lower has been involved with telecommunications since 1974.

After working in large corporate telecommunications companies for many years including two spells at BT, in 2003 Mark resigned from his position as Director, Commercial & New Business Development with BT Wholesale. This was to complete the buyout of a small BT subsidiary business, which was one of the earliest pioneers of consumer focused web based telecommunications Quip Ltd. This small company was quickly transformed to a business to business telecommunications company and a number of additional acquisitions made.

Renamed as Evoxus, this business became one of the first companies to go to market with Hosted PBX services in 2004. The underlying platform was then, as now with 01 telecom, supplied by the global market leader with this technology Broadsoft Inc. Mark's interest in Evoxus was sold in 2007.

Six years on in 2010, the market for Hosted PBX services and importantly how the implementation of these services can transform the effectiveness and performance of a business has never been greater. 01 telecom plans to be a significant service provider in this market with a comprehensive a range of Hosted telecommunication services.
